Christodoulides prepares cabinet reshuffle with Diko and Disy figures expected to join

Nicosia, Cyprus. President Nikos Christodoulides is preparing a cabinet reshuffle expected to include internal transfers and new appointments involving figures from the centre right, according to information emerging on Friday.


Reported ministerial changes

The reshuffle is expected to increase Diko’s representation in government, with party members reportedly set to take ministerial and deputy ministerial posts alongside appointments involving figures associated with Disy.

Local media reports indicate that Diko MP Christos Senekis is expected to replace Maria Panayiotou as agriculture minister. Diko member Evi Tsolaki is reportedly set to become deputy social welfare minister.

Health Minister Neophytos Charalambides is expected to move to the transport ministry, replacing Alexis Vafeades.

Health, culture and tourism portfolios

Tina Pavlou, who was a candidate supported by Disy in the most recent parliamentary elections, is expected to take over the health ministry.

Current Deputy Social Welfare Minister Clea Hadjistefanou Papaellina is expected to become deputy culture minister, replacing Lina Kassianidou.

Christos Angelides is reportedly set to be appointed deputy tourism minister, replacing Costas Koumis. Angelides previously served as general director of the hoteliers’ association Pasyxe and was a Disy candidate in the 2024 European elections.

Presidential palace changes

Further changes are expected within the presidential palace. Civic Commissioner Panayiotis Palates is reportedly set to become Presidential Commissioner.

Presidential Commissioner Marios Hartsiotis is expected to move to the position of civic commissioner. Hartsiotis previously served as justice minister.
