Nicosia, Cyprus. Civil Aviation said on Friday it rejected MEP Fidias Panayiotou’s request to stage a drone show on his wedding night because he did not submit the necessary paperwork in time.
Late submission cited
Civil Aviation issued its statement after Panayiotou made comments on social media. It said it follows a strict legislative framework aimed at promoting safety in the air space and on the ground.
Permits could not be completed in time
Civil Aviation said it made efforts to facilitate the drone show, but procedures could not be completed within the required timeframe, including obtaining a permit from the European Aviation Safety Agency.
Safety rules and allegations
“It must also be made clear that in issues of aviation safety no derogations are given, regardless of the applicant or the type of event. Security cannot be called into question, nor linked to allegations or corruption,” Civil Aviation said.
What do you think about Civil Aviation’s decision to reject the request due to incomplete paperwork and safety requirements?
