According to the report of the European Commission about the road safety, the number of casualties in Cyprus went down by 23% in comparison with the data of 2010.
It is worth noting that the result is still higher than the median levels across the EU. The rating of countries with significant decrease of casualties in traffic accidents also included countries like Portugal, Lithuania and Malta. Cyprus was ranked 6th in the list.
According to the plan of the European Commission concerning the road safety, the number of casualties across Europe shall decrease by 50% by 2020.
