Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus recorded a job vacancy rate of 2.8 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, unchanged from the fourth quarter of 2025, according to Eurostat. The rate was slightly lower than the 2.9 per cent recorded in the first quarter of 2025.
Euro area and EU trends
Across the euro area, the job vacancy rate stood at 2.3 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, up from 2.2 per cent in the final quarter of 2025 but down from 2.4 per cent in the same period a year earlier.
In the European Union, the rate was 2.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2026. This was unchanged from the fourth quarter of 2025 and lower than the 2.2 per cent recorded in the first quarter of 2025.
Sector breakdown
In the euro area, the job vacancy rate was 2.0 per cent in industry and construction and 2.4 per cent in services.
In the European Union, the sector breakdown showed a rate of 1.8 per cent for industry and construction and 2.3 per cent for services.
Highest rates among member states
Among member states with comparable data, the highest job vacancy rates in the first quarter of 2026 were recorded in the Netherlands at 4.0 per cent and Belgium at 3.4 per cent.
They were followed by Malta at 3.3 per cent and Austria at 3.1 per cent.
