Cyprus reschedules EU informal ministerial councils after Middle East tensions disrupted flights

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus has rescheduled EU informal ministerial councils that were cancelled and put on hold due to escalating tension in the Middle East that affected flights to and from the island.


Rescheduled informal councils

The informal telecommunication (TTE Telecom) council will be held in Cyprus on April 29 and 30, followed by the informal general affairs council on May 10 and 11.

The Eurogroup meeting and the informal Ecofin will be held on May 22 and 23, the informal culture (EYCS culture) on June 1 and 2, the informal social cohesion council on June 4 and 5, and the informal defence council on June 7 and 8.

Meetings to be held by teleconference

Meetings will also be held by teleconference, including the informal research and innovation council (Compet research) on March 31 and all other meetings scheduled for March at a technocrat level.

Presidency statement and publication of changes

Presidency spokeswoman Stella Michael told the Cyprus News Agency that all changes were made to complete the work of the presidency and ensure the unhindered participation of EU delegates.

The changes have been posted on Cyprus’ EU presidency website.
