Nicosia, Cyprus. The Research and Innovation Foundation on Tuesday highlighted Cyprus’ rise to 34th place worldwide in the StartupBlink Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2026. The ranking represents a six-place improvement from 2025.
Ranking and growth
According to the report, Cyprus recorded the highest annual climb among EU countries for the third consecutive year. The startup ecosystem posted annual growth of 62.7 per cent, with an estimated total value of $4.2 billion.
City performance
The report said all four Cypriot cities were included in the global top 1,000 startup cities ranking. Limassol was cited as the top-performing city, becoming the first in Cyprus to enter the global top 200 at 191st worldwide.
Sector strengths
Cyprus performed best in the Social and Leisure category, ranking 26th globally. The category includes gaming, entertainment, social platforms, fitness and wellness, travel, and digital marketplaces. In gaming, Cyprus ranked 16th globally within the sub-category.
Outlook
The report said Cyprus has the potential to further strengthen its international position if it maintains its current business environment and innovation momentum.
