Death tolls reported in Middle East conflict as of March 5

Tehran, Iran. Countries involved in the conflict that began after U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran on Feb. 28 have reported scores of deaths across the Middle East as of March 5, the sixth day of fighting. Reuters said it has not independently verified the reported figures.


Reported death tolls as of March 5

Iran reported 1,045 people killed, including 175 schoolgirls and staff in a missile strike on a primary school in Minab in the country’s south on the first day of the war, according to the non-profit humanitarian group Iranian Red Crescent Society. It was unclear whether the overall death toll included Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps military casualties.

Israel reported 10 civilians killed, including nine in an Iranian missile strike on Beit Shemesh near Jerusalem on March 1, according to Israel’s ambulance service Magen David Adom. The Israel Defense Forces has not reported any military casualties.

Lebanon reported 77 people killed in Israeli strikes, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

Bahrain reported one person killed after a fire broke out in Salman Industrial City following missile interception, according to the interior ministry.

Kuwait reported three people killed, including two Kuwaiti soldiers, in Iranian attacks on the country, according to Kuwait’s health and foreign ministries.

Oman reported one person killed after a projectile hit the Marshall Islands–flagged product tanker MKD VYOM off the coast of Muscat.

The United Arab Emirates reported three people killed, according to the UAE’s defense ministry.

The U.S. military reported six service members killed in a strike on a facility in Kuwait, according to U.S. Central Command.

Syria reported four people killed when an Iranian missile struck a building in the southern Syrian city of Sweida on Saturday, according to state news agency SANA.

Iraq reported at least 13 people killed, according to Iraqi health authorities, including 11 militiamen, one army soldier and one civilian, based on health registration figures.
