President of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis confirmed this personally. He also added that the objections of Turkish officials will not affect the drilling plans in any way. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan initially was against the drilling and exploration woks in Cyprus.
Nevertheless, this week the West Capella drilling rig of the French company Total will start its first exploration work at the 11th section of the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cyprus. The exact coordinates of the site have already been announced.
Before drilling, the site will be checked for the presence of archaeological value objects. Afterwards, the land base of the Limassol port and 3 special vessels will be used in the exploration work. One of the vessels is expected to be permanently in the drilling zone for safety reasons.
