Eurobank reports higher first-half profit and highlights Cyprus growth plans

Nicosia, Cyprus. Eurobank reported higher profitability in the first six months of 2026, citing stronger lending, deposits and capital levels despite a more challenging international environment. The group said Cyprus remains one of its three core growth markets and an important part of its international operations.

First-half results

According to Eurobank’s interim report published on Wednesday, net profit attributable to shareholders reached €738 million in the first half of 2026, compared with €691 million in the same period a year earlier.

Adjusted net profit rose to €776 million from €711 million.

Cyprus integration

The bank said Cyprus continues to have a pivotal role in its international operations through both earnings and the integration of the former Hellenic Bank and insurance businesses.

Following the completion in 2025 of the legal mergers between Hellenic Bank and Eurobank Cyprus, and between the former Hellenic Bank and CNP insurance companies, operational integration is under way to create unified platforms for the enlarged entities.

Eurobank said it expects international operations, including Cyprus, to contribute a larger share of earnings and business volumes as merger synergies are fully realised.

Cyprus network and outlook

Eurobank identified Cyprus’ enhanced geopolitical role in the Eastern Mediterranean, low unemployment and resilient economy as factors expected to support future growth.

Eurobank Limited operates 67 branches and business centres across Cyprus, offering retail and corporate banking, investment and insurance services.

The group said Cyprus remains a key pillar of its strategy to expand its presence across the Eastern Mediterranean, the Middle East and South Asia.

India presence

In May 2026, Eurobank opened a representative office in Mumbai, India, marking its first institutional presence in the country.

The office is intended to strengthen business links, attract investment and facilitate knowledge exchange between India, Greece, Cyprus and the wider European market.
