Cyprus accounted for 0.2% of EU economic output in 2025

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus accounted for 0.2 per cent of total European Union gross domestic product in 2025, according to Eurostat’s Key figures on Europe 2026 edition published on Thursday. The EU economy was valued at €18.8 trillion during the year.

Cyprus’ share of EU output

Cyprus remained near the bottom of the EU ranking for absolute economic scale, alongside several smaller member states.

Cyprus, Estonia and Latvia each contributed 0.2 per cent of total EU gross domestic product in 2025. Malta had the smallest economy among the 27 member states, accounting for 0.1 per cent of overall EU output.

Largest EU economies

Germany remained the EU’s largest economy, generating €4.5 trillion, or 23.8 per cent of total output.

France was second, accounting for 15.8 per cent of EU gross domestic product, followed by Italy with a 12.0 per cent share. Greece accounted for 1.3 per cent of total EU gross domestic product.
