Pyrga, Cyprus. A firefighting operation was underway on Sunday after a blaze broke out in the Pyrga area of Larnaca, with the Forestry Department leading the response.
Emergency response
The Fire Service deployed four staffed fire engines from stations in Larnaca and Nicosia to assist the operation.
Aerial resources were also deployed to support efforts to contain the fire.
Forestry Department leads operation
The Forestry Department, which is responsible for managing the firefighting operation, deployed about 21 vehicles to tackle the blaze.
Authorities have not provided further details on the cause of the fire or whether any areas or property have been affected.
Efforts to bring the situation under control remained underway.
