Nicosia, Cyprus. A morning workshop at Gardens of the Future will invite participants to share memories of their grandmothers and create handmade cyanotype photographic prints. The session, titled For Our Grandmothers, is scheduled for May 23.
Workshop organisers and setting
The workshop will be led by Yasemin Collective and The.Curious.Curly in an intimate green garden in old Nicosia. It is the second edition of the event, returning after an inaugural edition held in summer 2025.
Storytelling session
Participants will take part in a guided discussion designed to encourage them to share stories and memories of their grandmothers, with the aim of honouring their relationships and their presence in their lives.
Cyanotype printmaking
The second part of the workshop will introduce cyanotype, a camera-less photographic printing technique dating from the 1840s. Participants will use a personal photograph, which must be sent to the organisers before the workshop, to make cyanotype prints and experiment with negative film.
Schedule and registration
The workshop will run from 10am to 1pm and will be held in Greek and English. Registration is required via www.instagram.com/yasemin.collective and www.instagram.com/the.curious.curly.
Will you send a personal photograph in advance to take part in the cyanotype printing process?
