Gaza City, Palestine. An Israeli airstrike on an apartment in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza on Sunday killed three people, including a six-month-old child, according to health officials. Medics identified the dead as Mohammad Abu Mallouh, the infant’s father, Alaa Zaqlan, the mother, and their child, Osama.
Ceasefire aftermath
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the incident. The October ceasefire brokered by U.S. President Donald Trump has not ended Israeli attacks in Gaza, with Israel and Hamas still at odds in indirect talks over the militant group’s disarmament.
The ceasefire left Israel in control of more than half of Gaza, while Hamas controls a narrow stretch of territory along the coast. Gaza health officials say about 880 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the truce took effect, a figure that does not distinguish between combatants and civilians.
During the same period, the Israeli military says four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants. Hamas does not publish casualty figures for its fighters, while Israel says its post-ceasefire strikes are aimed at preventing attacks or stopping people from approaching its armistice line with Hamas.
