Kampos-Tsakistra, Cyprus. The cherry blossom festival will return to Kampos Sakura Park for the third time on April 18, inviting the public to view Japanese cherry tree blossoms up close. The event will open at 11am with a schedule of activities.
Festival programme and participants
The Embassy of Japan, which helped establish the park in 2022, will participate again by serving Cherry Tofu, described as an original sweet and a sesame delicacy from traditional Japanese temple cuisine. The treat will be made with homemade cherry jam from Kampos, created for the event by a chef.
The embassy will also present a traditional Japanese festival coat known as a happi, worn by performers and participants, and visitors will have the opportunity to try it on.
Music and demonstrations
The programme will include live music by Eleni Hadjiafxenti and Nicos Evangelou, a children’s caricature session with artist Sotos Voskarides, and a demonstration of traditional squash decoration with Giannakis Ioannou.
