Kathimerini poll shows Disy leading as Volt gains and Direct Democracy Cyprus slips

Nicosia, Cyprus. A Kathimerini poll published over the weekend showed little change among the parties expected to be the largest in the next parliament, while Volt gained support and Fidias Panayiotou’s Direct Democracy Cyprus declined.

Top three parties

Disy is forecast to remain the largest party in the next parliament with 20.4 per cent of the vote. Akel is projected to come second with 18.5 per cent, continuing a pattern in which Disy and Akel have occupied the top two spots in every parliamentary election since 1985. Elam is expected to be third with 12.6 per cent, in line with every poll since October 2024.

Fourth and fifth place projections

The poll differs from previous surveys beyond the top three, where pollsters have been split over whether Direct Democracy Cyprus, established by Panayiotou last year, or Alma, established by former auditor-general Odysseas Michaelides last year, would finish fourth. Kathimerini forecasts Alma in fourth place with 8.9 per cent and places Diko in fifth with 7.4 per cent. While fifth is higher than most pollsters have projected for Diko so far, such a result would still be the worst parliamentary electoral result in the party’s 50-year history.

Direct Democracy Cyprus and Volt

Direct Democracy Cyprus is forecast to finish sixth with 5.7 per cent, its worst polling figure since the party’s establishment. Volt is projected to place seventh with 4.2 per cent, more than doubling its share compared with the previous Kathimerini poll published in December last year, and now appearing set to win a small number of seats.

Which party’s movement in the poll do you think could most affect the next parliament?
