Larnaca, Cyprus. A 65-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after 4kg of liquid cocaine was found hidden in his luggage at Larnaca airport. The drugs were discovered during a joint operation by the police drug squad Ykan and customs.
Joint operation at airport
Acting on information from Ykan officers, customs officials stopped the man for inspection shortly after his arrival from abroad.
Drugs hidden in containers
Searches uncovered 10 nylon packages containing a suspicious liquid concealed inside plastic cosmetics containers.
Substance confirmed as cocaine
Further examinations confirmed the substance was cocaine in liquid form with a total gross weight of 4kg.
Suspect remains in custody
The suspect was arrested and remains in custody for questioning.
First such detection in Cyprus
Police said this is the first time such a large quantity of liquid cocaine has been detected in Cyprus.
