Limassol, Cyprus. A 26-year-old man was arrested after his 25-year-old partner was injured when a firearm discharged at their residence in Limassol, police said on Wednesday.
Incident reported at Limassol residence
Police said they were informed of a shooting at the couple’s home in Limassol at around 6.20pm on Tuesday.
Injury and investigation
The incident is thought to have occurred while the couple was servicing the 25-year-old’s firearm, which subsequently went off and caused a leg injury. Police said the circumstances surrounding the discharge are under investigation.
Medical treatment
The woman was taken by ambulance to a private hospital in Limassol and later transferred to a private clinic in Nicosia, where she remains for treatment.
Arrest and ongoing inquiries
Police said the man was arrested on suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm, acting negligently and recklessly, and causing injury. He remains in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
