New conflict between Turkey and Greece

Турецкие ВВС

Turkish air forces have violated the Greek airspace 22 times. On every occasion, Greek jet fighters were sent for interception and on two occasions entered into virtual air combat with Turkish airplanes.

Conflict followed the incident, which happened last week in relation to the official trip of the Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. According to the flight plan, his plane was supposed to fly out from the military base near Athens, then land on Rodos to refuel and then to fly over Turkey to Syria and Iran.

However, Turkey has claimed that Rodos is demilitarized island and military airplane cannot proceed through Turkish airspace after landing there. Turkey then demanded to change the flight plan.
