Nicosia, Cyprus. Nicosia Municipality is bringing back its annual Summer Nights event series with free performances and artistic activities across the neighbourhoods of Nicosia, Aglandjia, Engomi and Ayios Dometios. Running from July 3 to September 25, the programme will feature music, theatre, dance, photography and other cultural events throughout the summer.
Programme overview
The municipality said musicians, performers, artists, ensembles and other creatives have been selected to take part in this year’s event series. The programme is intended to bring the capital’s neighbourhoods to life and create opportunities for residents to gather, participate and enjoy cultural entertainment.
Opening events
The programme begins on Friday with a music trail through Ledra and Onasagorou streets. Between 7pm and 9pm, Gore Melian will perform English and Greek songs from different eras, violinist Alexandra Tsiara will present Strings Under the Stars, the Melodic Trio will perform From Tradition to Today and Antigoni Kyriakidou will present Meet the Accordion.
July schedule
On July 8, Jokar and the Band will perform Greek and international songs at Pavlos Lisou park in Engomi as part of the Between Two Worlds programme. On July 12, the photography exhibition Repute by Andrew Tess will be displayed at the underpass on Solomou Square bridge.
On July 17, the folklore group To Vima will present The Spirit of Greece through Dance and Song at Eleftheria Square. On July 23, the music group Asteres Drapetes will present an evening dedicated to poet Nikos Kavvadias at Skali in Aglandjia.
Also on July 23, a musical evening featuring songs performed by Giorgos Stamataris and Stavriana Koutra will take place at the Byzantine Chapel of Ayios Dometios. On July 28, Antilogos Theatre will present its play The Square at Pallouriotissa Square.
August and wider programme
In August, the programme will include the Greek-language comedy Ta Dika Mas tou Geitona Mas by the theatre group To Paraskinio at the municipal gardens, and a musical gathering with singer-songwriter Chrysanthi Schiza on August 6 at the Byzantine Chapel of Ayios Dometios for the performance Notes in the Couryard.
The municipality said about a dozen more performances are included in the 2026 programme, covering photography, music evenings, summer songs, music from Greek cinema and choir performances. The full agenda is available on Nicosia Municipality’s website.
