Omonia clinch Cyprus League title as Group B relegation fight tightens

Nicosia, Cyprus. Omonia have secured this season’s Cyprus League title, with the official coronation potentially coming as early as the next matchday. The Nicosia side opened an insurmountable 13-point lead at the top after matchday 4.


Title decided after matchday 4 results

Omonia strengthened their position with a 2–0 win over arch-rivals APOEL on Saturday. Aris Limassol defeated Apollon Limassol 3–0, while Pafos FC and AEK Larnaca drew 1–1.

Omonia now have 71 points. Apollon and AEK are joint second on 58 points each.

Matchday 4 results were: Omonia – APOEL 2–0, Aris – Apollon 3–0, Pafos FC – AEK 1–1.

The standings are: Omonia 71, AEK 58, Apollon 58, Pafos FC 54, APOEL 48, Aris 48.

Group B relegation battle remains close

In Group B, Freedom24 Krasava ENY improved its position with a 3–1 win over Ethnikos Achna FC, moving into second place and away from the danger zone.

Akritas Chlorakas beat Olympiakos Nicosia 1–0 at the GSP Stadium to move within two points, while Anorthosis Famagusta FC and Omonia Aradippou FC drew 1–1. On Friday, AEL Limassol FC defeated Paralimni 2–1.

The Group B table lists: AEL 40, Freedom24 Krasava ENY 37, Anorthosis 36, Omonia Aradippou 35, Olympiakos Nicosia 31, Akritas Chlorakas 29, Ethnikos Achna 27, Paralimni 4.
