Nicosia, Cyprus. Oniro has introduced another temporary makeover in 2026, restoring table-and-chair dining and bringing back reservations while the planned permanent structure remains unbuilt.
Changes to the venue
The venue previously shifted to a more informal setup, replacing tables and chairs with bean bags and low tables, removing the option to reserve, and offering food in takeaway-style packaging. While the views remained a key feature, the overall experience was positioned closer to an informal beach club than a restaurant.
In its latest update, Oniro has reintroduced standard seating and reservations. The approach to the space has also changed, with newly planted gardens and a fence painted in soft colours reflecting a pastel scheme, aimed at blending with the surrounding landscape.
Service and staff
Staff were described as friendly and efficient. Guests were greeted on arrival by a staff member named Andrew, who was described as professional.
Menu focus and options
The new menu returns to a broader Mediterranean approach, offering choices for both a full gastronomic experience and casual dining. Sections include raw dishes, limited salads, bites, spreads, fish, fire-and-smoke dishes, and casual eats, with vegan options available.
Selected dishes and meal experience
From the bites section, Cheese Rolls were served in a large portion suitable for sharing. The dish featured filo pastry filled with feta, graviera and manouri, with fennel paste, on a bed of tomato relish and topped with yoghurt.
For mains, the meal included Pork Spare Ribs in an ouzo BBQ sauce with house-made pickles, and a dish listed as Spinach Lasagne. The ribs were returned to the kitchen after being found cool, and a fresh portion was later served with apologies. The Spinach Lasagne was described as closer to cannelloni, filled with spinach and a white wine cream sauce, with feta and béchamel.
The delay interrupted the flow of the meal, and the restaurant offered both diners a free drink.
