Paphos, Cyprus. A British father charged with causing the death of his three-year-old son after a fall from a hotel window in Chlorakas is due to return to Paphos district court on Monday. The court is expected to consider his request to temporarily lift bail restrictions so he can attend the boy’s funeral in the United Kingdom.
Application adjourned
The application was not heard during Friday’s proceedings and was adjourned until Monday.
The 37-year-old father faces a charge of causing death by a rash, reckless or dangerous act.
His bail conditions include €20,000 bail and a requirement to report to a police station once a week.
Hotel fall
The boy died on July 12 after falling from a fourth-floor window at a luxury hotel in Chlorakas, near Paphos, on the first day of the family’s holiday.
Police said the child was playing with his father in a corridor outside the family’s room while they waited for a lift. Investigators believe the boy slipped from his father’s grip and fell through an open window.
The father was arrested later that evening.
