Paphos, Cyprus. Paphos has been named the world’s best destination for sunrise and sunset views in a ranking by European photo-printing company Cewe, according to the Paphos regional tourism board, Etap.
Cewe ranking
The ranking was compiled by Cewe in partnership with travel and wildlife photographer Bella Falk. Travel + Leisure magazine highlighted the ranking on Wednesday and noted that Cyprus is among its top 50 places to travel in 2026.
Cewe assessed locations based on their visual impact, variety, accessibility and composition opportunities.
Locations highlighted
Cewe said Paphos offers particularly appealing sunsets because of its west-facing coastline and dramatic scenery.
It identified the sweeping seascapes of Petra tou Romiou, also known as Aphrodite’s Rock, Paphos Castle and the Erdo III shipwreck as locations offering strong sunset views.
Tourism promotion
Paphos sunsets combine “light, the sea, mythology, history, and the destination’s distinctive landscape”, Etap Paphos executive director Nasos Hatzigeorgiou said.
He said the Travel + Leisure recognition would strengthen Paphos’ position in overseas markets.
Etap said the recognition supports its strategy of promoting regional experiences beyond the traditional sun-and-sea model.
The tourism board also highlighted the Akamas Peninsula, Latchi, Polis and Pomos as locations for viewing sunrises and sunsets, citing their light, colours, landscapes and sensory appeal.
