The Human Rights Committee discussed the new ethical protocol, which grants parents the right to be present at the medical examination of their children.
The chairman of the committee Mrs. Stella Kyriakidou stated that the protocol will include the procedure to make medical tests in the presence of parents. However, the cases when there are suspicions about sexual or physical abuse from parents is present will be excluded, as well as at some urgent medical procedures.
It is expected that the protocol will enter into force in June. Currently it is pending to be discussed with the associations of pediatricians and psychologists, as well as with psychiatric service.
