Police arrest 57-year-old in Limassol cocaine seizure case

Limassol, Cyprus. Police arrested a 57-year-old man late on Tuesday in connection with the seizure of more than nine kilogrammes of cocaine in Limassol last year. He is due to appear before Limassol District Court on Wednesday.

Seizure and investigation

Police discovered more than 9kg of cocaine in August last year, as part of what authorities described as an ongoing investigation into drug possession, supply and money laundering.

Earlier arrest and evidence

A 45-year-old man was arrested at the time of the seizure, and officers found 42 boxes of duty-free cigarettes and €2,525 in his possession. Police said new evidence links the 57-year-old man to the case, leading to his arrest.

Ongoing court proceedings

Police said a court case is ongoing against the 45-year-old man.
