During the clashes in Athens, one Cypriot was arrested.
Within the framework of the 3rd international financial help programme to Greece, the Parliament of the country has approved the legislation which increases the contributions payable to the social insurance and pension fund, as well as increase of taxation for the majority of the citizens.
Due to passing of the legislation, various strikes and protests were organized in the capital of Greece, which led to riots. A group of young individuals, covering their faces, was throwing bottles with incendiary liquid at the police.
The police later reported that 14 individuals were arrested.
