Apart from the matter of the sanctions, the President of Cyprus made another statement to the Russian journalists- he confirmed that Russia did not request Cyprus for permission to use the air bases on the island.
Back in February, when the relevant rumors have started where it was stated that the government of Cyprus may provide the air base in order to use it for the aviation returning after completed tasks in Syria.
Back then, the Minister of Foreign Affairs said that such a request can be examined, however after this statement, real agreements did not follow.
