The Cyprus problem is expected to be resolved soon

Пан Ги Мун

The resolution of the Cyprus problem is very near, it is with a hand’s reach – said the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon at the opening of the 5-day negotiations between the leaders of the two communities in Switzerland.

The main aim of the negotiations is the reunification of the two independent states into one federation. In order to achieve that, the territorial matters mus be resolved: there is a possibility of deal to exchange the plots, as well as provisions for compensations for those, who lost their homes.

Moreover, Greek Cypriots insist on the withdrawal of the Turkish troops from the TRNC, which was only recognised by Turkey.
