The European Parliament has halted the procedure of adoption of visa-free regime with Turkey

The chairman of the EP Martin Schultz has stated that the work on this matter will start only if Ankara will comply with all of the 72 requirements by the end of June.

On the 3rd of May Turkey has lifted the visa requirement for this citizens of all 28 Member States. This requirement was one of the most important requirement, which Ankara had to comply with in order to secure the visa-free regime with the EU.

The media has also reported that this measure also applies to the Greek-Cypriots, however this does not mean an official recognition of the Republic of Cyprus by Ankara.
