Trump unveils limited-edition commemorative US passport for Declaration anniversary

Washington, United States. US President Donald Trump has unveiled a limited-edition commemorative US passport featuring his portrait as part of celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The passport will be released in a restricted number.

Announcement and design

In a message posted on the Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “The new US passport that says: Welcome, but be good.”

The passport design shows Trump with a serious expression, leaning on his desk, set against the text of the US Declaration of Independence, with his signature at the bottom. It is understood to be based on a portrait taken by White House photographer Daniel Torok.

Additional imagery

The second page of the passport includes an image depicting the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, with the caption “United States of America 250.”

The White House shared the image and described it as a “patriotic passport.”

Historical context and criticism

To date, no sitting US president has been depicted on a passport.

The announcement forms part of a broader series of initiatives aimed at placing Trump’s personal imprint on symbolic American institutions and landmarks. The efforts have drawn criticism from opponents who describe them as a form of personality cult.

Commemorative banknotes

Trump’s signature will also appear on commemorative banknotes, a move that marks the first time a sitting US president has been featured in this way.
