Caracas, Venezuela. The death toll from the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela last week has risen to at least 2,645, according to the latest announcement by authorities. The Ministry of Information also reported 12,666 injured and approximately 15,000 homeless.
Updated casualty figures
The latest official figures marked an increase from the previous day, when provisional President Delcy Rodríguez had put the number of fatalities at 2,595.
Missing persons estimate
While official authorities have avoided speaking about missing persons, the United Nations estimates that the number could be as high as 50,000.
