Nicosia, Cyprus. A yellow weather warning issued from 9am is set to remain in force until 5pm on Sunday afternoon as storms are expected to affect the entire island.
Warning period and storm coverage
The Met office said isolated storms are expected to begin in the west before spreading to the rest of the island.
Winds, hail and heavy rain
Strong winds are expected to bring hail, while rainfall in some areas is forecast to exceed 35mm per hour.
Troodos rainfall and dam inflows
Heavy rainfall in Troodos is expected to increase water run-off into the dams.
Lower temperatures and possible snow
Temperatures are forecast to be four to seven degrees below the seasonal average, reaching 20-23C. After midnight, conditions are expected to worsen with storms, strong winds and a possibility of snow in the mountains.
Outlook for Monday
Bad weather is expected to continue on Monday morning, clearing in the afternoon, though temperatures are forecast to remain several degrees below normal for the time of year.
