2026 Limassol Wine Festival opens at municipal gardens
The nine-day festival runs until October 4, with concerts, theatre, folk performances and activities for children.

Limassol, Cyprus. The 2026 Limassol Wine Festival opened at the municipal gardens on Saturday night and is set to run until October 4. Transport Minister Evie Tsolaki officially opened the event beneath its giant figure of the traditional Cypriot winegrower, known as the vrakas.
Festival history and wine production
House president Annita Demetriou, ambassadors, MPs, local officials and members of the public attended the opening.
Tsolaki said the festival dates back 65 years, when the late Kleanthis Christoforou first proposed an event celebrating Cyprus’ wine industry. Major producers Etko, Loel, Keo and Sodap supported it in its early years, she said, while Cyprus now has more than 100 smaller wineries.
Tsolaki stressed the importance of supporting wine producers, rural communities and agriculture. She referred to a vineyard replanting scheme introduced after last year’s devastating wildfires, adding that replanted vineyards could also serve as fire protection zones.
Nine-day programme
Limassol mayor Yiannis Armeftis described the festival as one of Cyprus’ longest-running and most popular events, celebrating Cypriot hospitality and Limassol’s traditions. He said it had brought together people of all ages for decades while keeping alive an important tradition for Limassol and Cyprus.
The municipal gardens will host 14 major concerts over the nine-day festival, alongside theatre performances, folk groups, children’s activities, and art and photography events.
