Attack at cafe in December

The attempted murder took place on the afternoon of December 20, 2025, when a 36-year-old man was attacked at a cafe on Anexartisias Street. According to witness accounts, the victim was first assaulted with taser-like devices and then stabbed.

The perpetrators fled the scene, while the victim was taken to hospital, where doctors found he had sustained a wound to his left shoulder blade.

Arrests and investigation

The suspect is the father of two men aged 30 and 20 who are already in custody over the case. As part of the police investigation, arrest warrants were issued for the two brothers, who were apprehended on January 3, 2026, following a boat chase off the coast of Ormidia.

The 56-year-old is alleged to have arranged for the vessel used in the attempted escape of his sons, who are being held in custody at the central prisons pending trial before the criminal court. He is being investigated for aiding and abetting after the commission of a felony.
