Athens, Greece. Greek authorities safely evacuated all 29 people aboard a vehicle ferry after a fire broke out on its deck off the tourist island of Mykonos on Friday, the Greek coast guard said.

Rescue operation

At least five coast guard vessels and two firefighting speedboats assisted in the evacuation of 28 crew members and one passenger, the coast guard said.

An official from the ferry’s owner, Blue Star Ferries, confirmed that no one was hurt and said the crew was working to extinguish the fire.

Unverified images carried by local media showed a column of smoke rising from a boat at sea.
