Bicycle patrols on Ayia Napa and Protaras beaches

Police patrols on bicycles will be introduced this weekend on the East coast beaches of Cyprus.

It was announced by the traffic police representative Michalis Katsonos that bike patrols will be present at the beaches to help tourists with any enquiries and for general maintenance of order.

It is launched as a pilot project. The initiative was born during the meeting between representatives of the police, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and tourist organizations. In case of project’s success, bicycle police patrols will be introduced in all major cities of the island.

A corresponding tender for the purchase of 14 bicycles and other necessary equipment for the police officers has been already prepared by the government.
