Nicosia, Cyprus. Sixteen bounced cheques with a total value of €40,799 were recorded in July, according to central bank data published on Wednesday. The number was almost half that recorded in the same month last year.


Monthly comparison

Thirty bounced cheques worth €42,715 were registered in July last year.

In July 2024, 36 bounced cheques with a combined value of €60,416 were recorded.

January to July data

Between January and July this year, 101 bounced cheques worth €288,489 were registered, compared with 145 cheques worth €309,599 during the same period last year.

The cheques recorded during the first seven months involved 70 people, including 48 legal entities and around 22 individuals, the central bank said.
