Cyprus police investigate foiled plot to murder British twins
Cyprus police, Europol and European authorities are investigating a suspected dark-web murder plot targeting two British nationals.

Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus police are working with Europol and authorities in several European countries to establish the motive and identify those behind an alleged plot to murder twins expected to holiday in Cyprus.
Two Norwegian nationals and an Irish national were arrested after allegedly travelling to meet a purported assassin, who was an undercover police officer from Denmark.
Investigation continues
The investigation is being conducted by the Special Investigative Team of Police Headquarters, informally known as “Cyprus’s FBI”.
The three suspects have been remanded for eight days and have so far declined to make statements. Police believe they are members of a criminal group but not the masterminds behind the alleged plot.
Targets remain untraced
The intended targets, both British nationals with criminal records, have not been located. Europol has been notified and is assisting efforts to trace them.
According to information gathered by investigators, the two men had holidayed in the government-controlled area of Famagusta several weeks earlier and appeared to be planning to return to Cyprus.
Alleged payment and evidence
The Famagusta District Court heard last Saturday that the criminal group had offered about €85,000, or 650,000 Danish kroner, for the killing.
Police are continuing to examine the suspects’ mobile phones and are seeking CCTV footage from Ayia Napa and Larnaca, where the suspects had been staying.
