The highest total was recorded in Platania, where rainfall reached 83.9mm, compared with a normal monthly level of 12.8mm, an increase of 655 per cent.
Frenaros recorded the largest percentage increase, receiving 27.3mm, or 27,300 per cent of its normal monthly rainfall. Xylotymbou recorded 40mm, equivalent to 20,000 per cent of normal, with rainfall exceeding 200 times the usual level for August.
Nationwide totals
All meteorological department stations exceeded normal August rainfall levels, except Pano Panayia, where no rainfall was recorded, and Paphos airport, which recorded its normal seasonal level of 0.2mm.
Between October 1, 2025, and the end of August 2026, rainfall reached 608.3mm, or 122 per cent of normal for the corresponding period. All stations nationwide recorded more than 100 per cent of normal rainfall for the period.
