Nicosia, Cyprus. A new 900-tonne humanitarian aid shipment has left Cyprus for Gaza as part of the continued implementation of the Amalthea Plan.

The consignment includes medicine, medical equipment, hygiene products, food and shelter equipment.

International coordination

The shipment is being carried out in close cooperation with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), under the oversight mechanism established by UN Security Council Resolution 2720, the Foreign Ministry said.

The operation also involves the United Arab Emirates and coordination with directly involved parties.

Supporting partners

France, Slovakia and Kuwait are supporting the coordinated effort, alongside the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Humanitarian organisations World Central Kitchen, All Hands and Hearts, and Project Hope are also participating.

Aid corridor

Cyprus continues to serve as a point for the collection, storage, secure screening, inspection and departure of humanitarian aid, which is transported to Gaza for delivery and distribution via the port of Ashdod, the ministry said.

More than 37,000 tonnes of aid have been sent and delivered to Gaza’s civilian population since the start of the maritime humanitarian corridor.
