EAC should change their debtor handling policy

According to CypLive, Auditor General Odysseas Michailides believes that Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC) should work as efficiently as possible to recover debts of customer’s unpaid electricity bills, which today exceeds 101 million euro.

Among the measures recommended by the auditor – ensuring guarantee for the payment, timely legal actions, as well as installing pre-paid electricity meters, as suggested by the EAC internal audit service.

Another recommended measure is introducing electronic billing system, which would save money for sending paper bills by mail.
