Famagusta court sentences man to eight years for rape

Famagusta, Cyprus. A 30-year-old man was sentenced to eight years in prison on Monday after the Famagusta permanent criminal court found him guilty of rape.

Investigation and trial

According to police, the offence was committed against a female victim in the Famagusta district on July 13, 2024.

Following a complaint and an investigation by the Famagusta CID, the case was brought before the court for an immediate trial. The defendant remained in custody throughout the proceedings under court instructions.

Conviction and sentence

After examining the prosecution’s evidence, the court convicted the 30-year-old and imposed an eight-year prison sentence.
