Fire at Lanaz refinery in Erbil contained after drone strike, operations remain suspended

Erbil, Iraq. Authorities contained a fire at the Lanaz refinery after a drone strike, but operations at the facility remain suspended, officials said early on Sunday.

Fire contained, operations halted

Officials at the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Natural Resources told Reuters that the fire had been contained, but work at the refinery remained suspended.

Suspension to continue pending assessment

Provincial officials said operations would be suspended until the fire from the Saturday drone strike was extinguished. Ministry officials also said work would remain suspended until the extent of the damage is assessed.
