Nicosia, Cyprus. Women in Cyprus can attend free workshops on financial empowerment in Nicosia on November 10-11, according to an announcement issued by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) on Monday. The Cyprus Committee for Financial Literacy and Education (CyFLEC) is organising the programme with CySEC’s support.

Programme open to women of all backgrounds

According to CySEC, the workshops, titled “Your Money. Your Power.”, will be held at The Landmark Nicosia, Autograph Collection, between 3pm and 7.30pm each day.

The commission said women could participate irrespective of age, occupation or current financial knowledge, with no prior experience necessary.

CySEC, which holds a seat on CyFLEC’s board of directors, described the programme as part of broader efforts to advance financial literacy and give women the confidence, skills and knowledge to handle their own finances. It encouraged women to attend, saying the workshops could meaningfully strengthen their financial understanding and independence.

Practical guidance across four themes

The organisers said participants would explore four themes through interactive sessions: drawing up and managing household budgets; saving alongside investing; borrowing responsibly and managing debt; and planning early for retirement.

They said examples drawn from real life and familiar everyday situations would help women use what they learn in their own financial circumstances.

According to CyFLEC, the programme is designed to provide practical knowledge and useful tools so women can make more informed financial choices, approach future planning more confidently and become more financially independent. The initiative also seeks to build women’s financial resilience and reduce the financial literacy gap between genders.

CySEC said its support extends to initiatives that increase financial awareness and foster well-informed, sound financial choices. The commission stressed that financial education plays an important role in safeguarding and empowering citizens.
