Government spending €4.7 million on Kyperounda projects, interior minister says
Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou outlined infrastructure projects and rural housing measures at Kyperounda’s apple festival on Sunday.

Kyperounda, Cyprus. The government is spending €4.7 million on projects in Kyperounda, Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou said at the village’s apple festival on Sunday.
Roads and cultural facilities
Ioannou formally handed over a €462,000 road renovation project in the old part of the village, completed last month with funding from the interior ministry.
A cultural centre cost €1.72 million, while a planned folk art and natural history museum, with an estimated budget of €2.5 million, remains under construction.
Support for rural communities
Ioannou said the state’s aim was to “build infrastructure and policies that give people reasons to stay in rural communities”. He said the government wanted villages to “remain alive and attract new residents”, especially “young people and families”.
He outlined housing measures aimed at rural areas, including a recently announced scheme allowing an additional floor on existing homes and a new plan to transfer state-owned land to families.
The cabinet has also increased this year’s support allowance for mountain residents by €50 per household and €35 per person.
Mountain location
Kyperounda lies in the Pitsilia region of Limassol district, at an altitude of around 1,300 metres in Troodos. It is the island’s third-highest village.
