Investigation launched after sewage reports at Timi beach

Timi, Cyprus. An investigation is underway after bathers reported apparent sewage in the sea at Timi beach on Wednesday, raising concerns over water quality and public health.

Timi deputy mayor Giorgos Polykarpou visited the beach after receiving complaints from members of the public and confirmed that an investigation is in progress.

Reports and calls for testing

People at the scene said sewage was visible in the water, prompting concerns about the safety of swimming and the possible source of the pollution.

Bathers called on the relevant authorities to immediately examine the matter, identify the cause of the apparent contamination, conduct water quality tests and, if necessary, introduce measures to protect public health and inform the public.

Beach location

Timi beach, also known as Kathari Beach, is located about three kilometres from the village in the Paphos district.

The beach is accessible via a dirt road and is known for its shallow, clear waters. It is a destination for swimmers seeking a quieter stretch of coastline.

Investigation continues

Authorities have not announced the cause of the reported pollution or whether precautionary measures will be introduced while the investigation continues.
