Investigations continue after balcony collapse prompts evacuation of 56 Limassol flats
No injuries were reported after a fifth-floor balcony fell onto the one below at Rousos Olympic Palace, where a balcony also collapsed in 2022.

Limassol, Cyprus. Authorities continued investigating on Friday after a fifth-floor balcony collapsed onto the one below at the Rousos Olympic Palace complex on Thursday. Civil Defence evacuated all 56 flats in the complex, and no casualties were reported.
Building evacuated
The balcony fell at around 10am at the complex on the corner of Georgios Katsounotos and Christodoulos Hadjipavlou streets. The complex has two blocks: Block A contains 38 flats, while Block B, where the balcony fell, contains 18.
Limassol EOA chairman Yiannis Tsouloftas told the Cyprus News Agency that the EOA immediately worked with Civil Defence to evacuate the building under an interior ministry order. Tenants were moved to alternative accommodation for “a couple of days”.
Repairs required
Tsouloftas said the apartment owners must appoint a civil engineer to carry out repairs and make the building safe. The building had already been listed as dangerous, and a solicitor’s office had been assigned to proceed with evacuation orders.
Tsouloftas said a balcony had also collapsed on the same building in 2022.
