Limassol, Cyprus. Two fires in forested areas of the Limassol district were deliberately set, fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said on Sunday. Both fires were extinguished.

Fires reported near Omodos, Mandria and Anoyira

Kettis said the first fire broke out in the morning between the villages of Omodos and Mandria, while the second broke out in the afternoon near the village of Anoyira.

Kettis said climatic and environmental conditions in the areas were not favourable for the fires to start easily, adding that both were “definitely set maliciously.”

Public urged to report suspicious activity

Kettis called on the public to remain alert, observe their surroundings, and inform the authorities if they notice suspicious behaviour, saying even the smallest piece of information is important.
