Man arrested after police intercept methamphetamine parcel in Cyprus
Police detained a 35-year-old on Friday after intercepting a parcel containing about 1.2kg of methamphetamine in an operation spanning Larnaca and Limassol districts.

Larnaca, Cyprus. Police said a 35-year-old man was detained on Friday following the interception of a postal parcel carrying about 1.2kg of methamphetamine in an operation covering the districts of Larnaca and Limassol.
Overseas alert led to interception
According to police, authorities in another European country notified Cypriot officials that a drug-containing parcel was being sent to Cyprus. The arrest followed cooperation between those authorities and the Directorate for Combating Organised Crime.
Officers and the Customs Department found the parcel at Larnaca airport on October 21 following its arrival from overseas, police said. They recorded the methamphetamine’s gross weight as 1kg and 197g.
Suspect detained following delivery
Police said officers arrested the man at approximately 4pm on Friday, when he identified himself as the recipient and took delivery of the parcel.
He was placed in custody and is under investigation for drug importation, drug possession, possession with intent to supply and money laundering, police said.
The Directorate for Combating Organised Crime is investigating alongside the Limassol Drug Law Enforcement Unit (Ykan).
