Nicosia, Cyprus. Founders, SME owners and senior executives will gather to explore practical business applications of artificial intelligence at AI in Practice: Changing the Future of Business on Monday, 19 October 2026, according to the organisers.

Programme and attendance

The organisers said the event would be held at European University Cyprus’s Cultural Center in Nicosia, with proceedings scheduled from 18:00 to 22:30. Ticket sales will close at noon, Cyprus time, on Monday, 19 October.

Panis.News is organising the evening alongside co-organisers GrantXpert Consulting and Future Skills Hub at European University Cyprus. The event has the auspices of Demetris Skourides, Chief Scientist of Cyprus.

According to the organisers, the programme addresses the challenge business leaders face in determining where AI can produce results. It will examine ways to select useful applications, ready teams for adoption and align technology spending with business requirements. Attendees will be able to consider their next steps through demonstrations, case studies and opportunities to question speakers directly.

Business decisions and preparation

Panis Pieri, Founder of Panis.News, said business leaders needed opportunities to raise questions, test assumptions and learn from people already using AI. He said AI in Practice had been created to make those discussions accessible and useful, with the aim of helping participants develop a clearer understanding of possible next steps for their businesses.

Dr Celia Hadjichristodoulou, Founder and Managing Director of GrantXpert Consulting and Future Skills Hub, said deciding how AI fits into a business required careful consideration of its customers, processes and people.

Sponsor highlights practical learning

AIA.Labs is supporting the event as Gold Partner. Its Founder, Sotiris Makrygiannis, placed practical AI learning in the context of successive changes in workplace and consumer technology.

He recalled learning in the 1970s to punch cards for work or to programme a timesharing computer, followed by personal computers and office tools in the 1980s, then modems and basic internet in the 1990s. He described the 2000s as bringing mobile internet and online shopping, followed by mobile apps by 2010.

Makrygiannis said the current task was to learn practical AI use, which he regarded as the most disruptive step an individual could take today. He said AIA.Labs was pleased to sponsor the event because theory needed to be put into practice.
